Purpose and Mission

Formally incorporated January 21, 2006 as a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) faith-based charitable and educational organization, the Center for the Church and Global AIDS continues a ministry initiated in 2000.

As a faith-based organization, the mission of the Center for the Church and Global AIDS is to support and advocate for persons infected and affected by HIV and AIDS around the world with programs of education, prevention, care, and treatment.

The Center’s purpose is to address the challenges of the global HIV and AIDS pandemic and related health needs in the world through programs of awareness, education, Sierra Leoneprevention, care, and treatment.  In particular, the Center challenges attitudes and actions that contribute to stigmatization and discrimination of persons infected and affected by HIV and AIDS.

The Center involves Christians as well as other persons of faith, in combating the global HIV and AIDS pandemic. This includes, but is not limited, to:

    • Challenging attitudes and actions that contribute to stigmatization and discrimination of persons living with HIV and AIDS.
    • Decreasing fear and misconceptions by providing accurate information about HIV and AIDS.
    • Providing practical and pastoral support for people living with HIV and AIDS and their families.
    • Offering programs of education and services, often in partnership with other organizations.
    • Educating and training laity, pastors, and seminarians to respond positively to the pandemic.

The Center also seeks to:

  • Provide ecumenical and inter-faith educational resources and opportunities for persons and other organizations regarding the global AIDS crisis.
  • Offer specific projects of awareness, education, prevention, care and treatment throughout the world that can be supported financially by individual gifts, grants and other sources.
  • Advocate non-governmental and governmental policies that contribute towards creating an AIDS-free world.

We are a voluntary organization. No salaries or expenses are provided for Officers, Board members, or the International Advisory Council.
