Ambassador George S. McGovern, former United States Senator and presidential nominee, serves as the special United Nations Ambassador on Hunger, and Honorary Chairperson of the International Advisory Board.

 

Bishop Ivan Abrahams, Johannesburg, South Africa, is the presiding bishop of the Methodist Church of Southern Africa.

Herbert L. Bacon, Grand Junction, Colorado, is a well known civic leader and philanthropist affiliated with the Bacon Family Foundation.Musa Dube

Dr. Musa W. Dube is well-known as an international speaker, author and HIV and AIDS activist and serves as associate professor of New Testament at the University of Botswana in Africa.


 

Bob Edgar
Dr. Bob Edgar is General Secretary of the National Council of Churches in the United States and president-elect of Common Cause.   Formerly he represented Pennsylvania in the U.S. Congress and served as president of the Claremont School of Theology.

 

Bishop Lawi Imathiu, former President of the World Methodist Council, founded Kenya Methodist University in Meru, Kenya.

Rev. Dr. M. Kent Millard serves as senior pastor of the 5,500 member St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in Indianapolis, Indiana.Bishop Minor

Bishop Ruediger Minor of Dresden, Germany, previously served as president of the United Methodist Council of Bishops and as episcopal leader of Russia.

 

 

Ms. Pauline Muchina of Kenya is based in Washington, D.C., where she is involved with Women and AIDS Advocacy for UNAIDS.

Professor N. M. Samuel, M.D. is Head of the Department of Experimental Medicine, Chennai, India, and board member for the International AIDS Society.

Elaine BlinnElaine Blinn, M.S.W., is a licensed clinical social worker with the Family Medicine Residency Clinic of St. Mary Corwin Hospital in Pueblo, Colorado.  In addition, she is a psychotherapist in private practice.  Elaine's commitment to fighting HIV/AIDS has led to volunteer service in India, Thailand, and Sierra Leone, West Africa.

 

John Blinn, M.Div., secretary of the Center for the Church and Global AIDS, is a retired pastor in the United Methodist Church, Pueblo, Colorado.  A spiritual director and spiritual retreat leader with CompanionSpirit (www.companionspirit.com), he has produced three musical CDs.  John's commitment to fighting HIV/AIDS has led to volunteer service in India, Thailand, and Sierra Leone, West Africa.

Ben Galloway, M.D., well-known Denver forensic pathologist, serves twenty counties in Colorado, he serves on the Board of Belle Bonfils Foundation.   Previously he was Associate Clinical Professor at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, Deputy Coroner of Denver, and served on the pathology staff of Denver General.

Stephen K. McCeney, Ph.D. is a licensed clinical and school psychologist for the Denver Public Schools.  He has a part-time private practice specializing gay and lesbian issues and chronic and terminal illnesses.  He has worked as a psychotherapist and consultant for over 20 years in a variety of settings including hospitals, mental health centers, universities, large corporations, private practice and schools.

Bonnie J. Messer, Ph.D., treasurer of the Center for the Church and Global AIDS,  is a counseling psychologist in private practice in the Denver area.  Previous service includes the professional counseling staff at the University of Denver.  Bonnie has partnered with her husband, Donald, in many programs around the world, as they have addressed the global HIV and AIDS pandemic.Donald E. Donald E. Messer, president emeritus and emeritus Henry White Warren Professor of Practical Theology at The Iliff School of Theology, Denver, Colorado, is president of the Board of Directors and Executive Director of the Center for the Church and Global AIDS.  Speaking and leading workshops has taken him to more than 30 countries around the world.  He is author of 12 books including:  Breaking the Conspiracy of Silence:  Christian Churches and the Global AIDS Crisis.

 

Paula MurphyPaula J. Murphy, Ed.D, is a retired psychotherapist living inAurora, Colorado.  Paula has taught at the University of Denver School of Social Work and Arapahoe Community College in the area of human sexuality.  She and her late husband, Paul, were pioneers in the Denver area, addressing the issues of the church and HIV and AIDS.  Together they journeyed to India for workshops addressing the global AIDS pandemic.

Marla S. Petrini, J.D., is a retired Denver attorney who headed the national labor/employment practice for one of the 20 largest law firms in the world.  She serves as Vice-President of the Board and the Center Volunteer Coordinator.  She is on the Advisory Board of Gilda's Club, a national organization which provides a cancer support community to survivors and their families, is politically active in the area of gay and lesbian rights, and journeyed to India to work on issues related to HIV and AIDS.
